Does anyone have a good close-up of Scott #1? I'm interested in seeing what the paper should look like.

click on "enlarge" & it will open up in a new window. 48% is quite good, 100% is a bit hard on the eyes.

Page 6 of that link has some more good colour illustrations of proofs & reproduction Scott 3.

Having the initials RWH&E on the bottom would be important for me.

?

The usual sources - this one from a dealer.

Why do you ask?

You are welcome - This image is from a scan @ 1200. However, I have a digital microscope that gives better views of paper texture. If you like, I could take a pic with the DM. (It will have to wait until Monday-Tuesday, as I am out of town.)

That would be fantastic! No rush. I purchased this from a dealer maybe 15 years ago. Then I didn't know any better and now I'm trying to educate myself.

Thanks Jkjblue!!! The close-ups of the upper left and lower right give me a lot of confidence that my copy is the real deal.

I hope others benefit as well.
