Hello Expert Forumers!

I also have inherited one of these damn old stamp albums and I wonder if it's worth anything. I am a complete ignorant when it comes to stamps.
It is from my wife's grand great father and the date on it reads "March 20th 1987". It is made of 120 pages but some of them are empty.
Most of the stamps are from Former British Colonies but about a third of the others is from all over the world.

As you will see on the pictures, many of them are in poor condition.

Is it worth consulting an expert? There are not many of them in Essex so we'd have to go to London.
All answers/suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks !

A.

It's a little hard to tell from photos, rather than scans, but, unfortunately, these seem typical pages from a child's album of the period - that is, the stamps are common and/or damaged. I shoudn't waste a trip to London on them - better to take a dozen decent pictures and put the album on ebay.

No - and stamp dealers in Lindon aren't what they were. The days of loads of shops around the Strand and Charing Cross Road are long gone.

Hi Larnaud,

Did you mean 1897?

Would it be worth keeping as a family heirloom?

Hello Bobby,
Yes I should have said 1897 in the topic, sorry about that.

As for family heirloom, from him we also have photo albums, school notebooks, books with form prizes, wedding certificates, military service records, medals and so on which I think are a little bit more personalized than a stamp collection.
If you do think that it is worth keeping it anyway, then we shall follow your expert advice.

What is the album name/company and the copyright? There is no money here. Gift or donation or keepsake.
