Hi to all I plan to change all my self-adhesive post stamps for the elderly, which I miss. I do not know how to put it. I need yours advice. Is it fair and okay if I am looking to change postal stamps based on Scott's price list?I plan, upload some self-adhesive US stamps and look for change. If I have a stamp for example. SC#5058 .... Unused = $2.40 ... Used = $50.0 I have this 'Unused' stamp. As an equivalent, I would like US postal stamps that also have a total value equivalent to the Scott's catalog. This is just an example: - My offer: SC#5058 .... Unused = $2.40 (1 stamp) - The customer If someone wants to, he can give him the duplicates he has (He decides which stamps he will give), but the total value from the Scott's catalog should be $2.40 (4 x $0.25 + 1 x $1.0 + 2 x $0.20 = $2.40). (7 stamps). or (2 x $1.0 + 2 x $0.20 = $2.40). (3 stamps). Is that OK from me?Best regards

I have several of these used (with cancel) if anyone is interested. I'd sell them for $20 each. Just kidding! Wolf-==- |

I think John is just asking whether cumulative catalog value is an acceptable basis for exchanging groups of stamps. I would answer that yes it is, if both parties agree to it. However, it may not work as well if some of the stamps are at minimum catalog value, where their "real" value is much less than that minimum. |

Hi to all It seems to me you do not understand me. I just want to change postal stamps in the value of Scott's catalog value.
I offer my postage stamp worth $ 2.40 per Scott catalog.
In return, I also want to get a value of $ 2.40 according to Scott's catalog. Anyone who wants to change can offer me his duplicate US stamps. To achieve $ 2.40, he needs to look at his duplicate and value in Scott's catalog.
Well guys, you are professionals in philately, compared to me. So I ask yours advice. Do I get wrong if I want to EXCHANGE stamps in this way? |

Hi @Seigaku Thank you for participating in the topic. Quote: I think John is just asking whether cumulative catalog value is an acceptable basis for exchanging groups of stamps. It should be exchange. |

No, I don't think so. But, as Seigaku says, the totals won't always equate in terms of real-world value, because stamps priced at the minimum of a particular catalogue will be pretty much worthless. As an example, if I have a stamp priced at £20 in Gibbons, it's likely I could get £2 for it. But if I have forty stamps priced at only 50p each in Gibbons, it's likely that I could get 40p for them. |

Hi @GeoffHa Thank you for participating in the topic. Quote: if I have a stamp priced at £20 in Gibbons, it's likely I could get £2 for it. But if I have forty stamps priced at only 50p each in Gibbons, it's likely that I could get 40p for them. But, I give the right to the customer (client). I have no choice, he decides what he will offer. I will set the image stamp and value from the Scott catalog. The buyer (client) decides which his US postal stamps he will exchange (offer to me). (It can be his duplicates which no longer need him, or what he wants). So he has an advantage. My goal is: I want to exchange my another postal stamps (All world: Yugoslavia, NDH, Libya, Argentina etc...) that I do not need. I want to fill in my postal album with the US stamps that I miss. Best regards |

The catalogs are just a guide. I think exchanging value per value - especially for more common stamps of all countries - is fine. |

Quote: I want to fill in my postal album with the US stamps that I miss. Johnc, If some of the U.S. stamps you need are from the years about 1940 - 1970 (I don't collect after 1970), send me a message with a list of some of the stamps you need (or post a list here). If I have duplicates I'll be glad to send them to you for no charge. Dennis |
