Very nice info guys = have not inventoried my Spain
stamps yet....I might have it.......No I do not....but I have earlier stamps - and they are also cancelled with parallel bars

This is an unadopted design for the stamps of the short-lived reign of Amadeo I of Saboy, king of Spain (1870/72). So, it couldn't, by any means, be "cancelled".
Furthermore, paralel bars, are not a cancellation device but a mean to show that a stamp can no longer be used (as most of stamps shown by Rod) or (as in this case) has never been able to be used. This is the case of unadopted designs or forgeries detected by the authorities.

Thanks so much for the very interesting information. Glad you explained the parallel bars, I would also have assumed it was for cancellation.
