Hello,

I have been doing research on some confederate states stamps I came upon. Two of the stamps say facsimile on the back so I know those are reproductions. Any way to tell about the others?

Thank you and any information is much appreciated.

Trevor

Welcome.
They are all 'Tasco" facsimiles. These were produced in large numbers by the Tatham Stamp Company. Here is a link to the booklets they came in

the third from the top, the olive colour 10¢ Jefferson Davis, is a reprint from an altered plate. This was a plate on which the denomination was changed to accommodate rising postal rates, but was never used.

Don and James, thank you very much for the information. I still have more of the collection to go through so I will post additional photos if any other questions arise.

Thanks Again!

The paper is very white and it is selling for less than 10.00 dollars.
Is it or could it be real?
"Abbreviations:

"MINT: Unused with Gum, Maybe Hinged, could be regum. NH: Never Hinged. Unused: A Stamp Issued With Gum, But Has None. OG: Original Gum. VLH: Very Lightly Hinged. HR: Hinge Remnant. NGAI: No Gum As Issued. 1-10: Complete Set of 1 to 10. 1/10: Incomplete Set Between 1 and 10. Some stamps could be expertly restored, regum, or repaired. The Retail Value is from the following Catalogs: Scott, Gibbons, Michel, Unitrade, Brookman, JSPA, Chan. All stamps are shown front and back, so any faults present would be easily visible. However, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding any particular item."

Is this correct in general?

It's real and should be plateable to prove it.

The paper is very white because of the way the scan was done. That's the same background as the view of the back. The green color is odd, too, (too bright) because of the way the scan was done. Perhaps too conveniently, the scan hides light staining visible on the "TS" of CENTS and the mouth and chin of Jeff Davis.

"Selling for" is meaningless here. This is an auction that was started at a penny and it's not over and sold yet. Further, I would check the forum for opinions on NYStamps before doing business with them.
