Have run across an Edward VIII postmarked "WESTERN D.O. GLASGOW".
What, please, is or was Western D.O.? Thanks in advance.

I have this 1914 postcard post marked Openshaw D.O. Manchester.

I have it marked 'District Office' on its album page, but for the life of me I have no idea how I came to that conclusion. Must have seen it somewhere.

"D O " has also stood for "Delivery Office" over time, but if used as an abbreviation on a postal marking I cannot comment.
