I recently bought a lot of worldwide kiloware on ebay, and I find that more than half of any tray is being soaked upside down. I'm a UK resident, so no UK stamps in the mix (also, no US stamps in the soaking bowl).

More than half the stuff is either on postcard pieces (no one writes letters any more), or its self-adhesives from countries where the gum is soluble -- eg Sweden, Norway, France, Canada. Or on colored paper, where if you soak 'right side up' the ink in the paper will run and ruin the entire bowl.

Anyone else notice this happening?

Interesting observation. What implications does this have for removing stamps from paper?

I have been noticing too much double paper in kiloware which only adds to the weight of the mixture and its price.

Here in UK, it used to be that charity kiloware was of pretty good standard -- these days its hard to find stuff that is trimmed and single paper. Charities realize that with people buying by weight, they make more money when they leave in whole envelopes etc. If you can't see a photo of the actual lot for sale then I wouldnt buy it.
