The Newfoundland Set comes in two formats - a Line Perf (about 14) and a Comb Perf (about 13.5).

For some values, (1c, 2c, 3c, and 5c) there are two versions of the Line Perf. One has normal sized perforation holes and the other has smaller sized holes. This is according to the 2013 Stanley Gibbons catalogue. My 2010 Unitrade only lists the 1c with this option. I have the 1c, 2c, and 3c with small holes, but have never seen the 5c.

Here is an image that I put together to show the difference. It has the normal sized perforation on the 1c issue and the small perfs on the 3c issue:

So far, I have only found the small holes in booklet panes. Has anyone seen a sheet or partial sheet of stamps larger than a 4 x 4 format with small holes? If so that would indicate they were issued in sheet form and not solely as booklet panes.

Booklet pane 4...13.5x13.5
Booklet pane 4...13.75x13.75

Your Scott 187 (Queen) (N.S.S.C.-181) was printed from 1932-1938.
Also comes in 13.5x13.5 -- 12.5x12.5 -- 14.0x14.0 -- 13.75x13.75

Also...
Booklet pane 4...13.2x13.2
Booklet pane 4...13.5x13.5

Thanks for the details Robert.

What I am wondering is if the small holes appear anywhere that is not a booklet pane.
I have found the small holes for the 1c, 2c, and 3c in booklet panes, and some individual stamps. I have not seen it on anything larger than a 4 x 4 format.

The current 2018 NSSC Newfoundland catalogue is a must have for Newfoundland stamps. See www.nfldstamps.com

John Walsh added the small holes information to his Newfoundland book after we discussed them by email in 2014. At the time, he concluded that they were only found on the booklet panes, and added my scans to the illustrations in the book.

I only collect a narrow range of stamps from Newfoundland from the 1932 set thru the later King George VI issues, so I did not purchase the book.

In asking the question of the forum, I was trying to see if anyone has one in a format larger than 4 x 4. The booklet panes are 4 x 4, so if it exists in a larger format than the stamps were not solely found on the panes.
