The following Canada 90 stamps on the right side are the scarce horizontal grain wove paper variety. The stamps on the left side are the regular vertical grain wove paper stamps. The stamps on the top are Type I and the stamps on the bottom are Type II. The horizontal wove variety is both wider and shorter than the regular vertical wove stamp. For this variety, Type I is from printing plates 1 and 2 and Type II is from printing plates 5 to 8 with Type I being scarcer.

This stamp can be mistaken for the dry printed variety because of its wider horizontal width. However, the dry printed stamp is on vertical grain wove paper and its length is the same as a regular vertical grain wove paper stamp.
