Good Evening,

I have a ~1935 2sh New Zealand stamp I would like a second set of eyes on.

It appears that all sides are 13.5 save for the bottom...

Bottom left is 13 / Bottom right is 13.5

Please have a look and let me know your opinion of this stamp.

Thanks

I think this stamp is listed as perfs 13-14 x 13 1/2.

Thank you perf12 - That is very good news.

Finally, a stamp with an odd perforation that has been documented.

This stamp has the WM with multiple NZ and star.

RESULTS FROM ONLINE PERF GUAGE:

TOP: 13.41
RIGHT: 13.47
Bottom LEFT: 12.94
Bottom RIGHT: 13.64
LEFT: 13.50

Since this stamp ONLY has the odd 12.94 / 13.64 perforation at the bottom - Does this stamp type have a S.G. number and value?

Assuming it is Watermark Multiple NZ Star, and Perf 13-14 x 13.5, it would be SG 589. This stamp catalogs for £45 for Mint NH, and £9.50 used. (2103 Stanley Gibbons Catalogue value)

The Mixed Perf stamps like this one measure differently on each half of the top or bottom. So you measure the perfs on the left side and then on the right side. The image you added appears different on each side, so I think that might be correct. Make sure you use a gauge with a continuum of lines like the Stanley Gibbons Instanta Gauge, rather than a series of dots. The Instanta Gauge is much more precise.

However, it appears to used fiscally. The lines are pretty common on used higher value stamps like this one. If that is correct, it would probably only be worth about £1.

I'm not sure that's a fiscal cancel. Looks for like a machine slogan cancel?

Here is a link to an earlier thread which touches on the difference in perforations, but also points out the interesting variety COQK.

RE: I'm not sure that's a fiscal cancel. Looks for like a machine slogan cancel?

Bobby, do you have a scan of anything showing that type of cancel on an envelope that would prove it was used for postage?

I have seen a lot of those types of cancels on the 2/ and 3/ NZ used issues from that time period in sets and accumulations that I have purchased. I came to the conclusion they were fiscally used. I have quite a few in my sales stock and would be happy to change them back from revenue status if that was the case. Thanks
