Thank-you, Kirk... I'm glad you're enjoying the series.
I've always thought stamp collecting was about history and sharing information.
Part six goes up in the next hour!

Thank-you all for your kind comments on my KGVI Reign Series.
Next week I shall deviate from Canada (I know, I know, we are the senior Dominion in the Commonwealth), and will take a look at some of the many other colonies.
To answer a few e-mails publicly (as a schoolteacher once told me: "If you asked the questions, others probably wish to ask it as well") some information on some of the topics/countries I've been asked about.
1. INDIA: I will not be doing India until the summer. It's rather difficult, and I wish to do a proper job.
2. GREAT BRITAIN: Surprisingly easy, and we'll do that before the end of February.
3. CANADA: Not much left, other than the War Effort Set, and the B.O.B. stuff. We'll get to it.
4. SOUTH AFRICA: The most challenging part of the Reign. I will do South Africa this year, as I have just about enough stuff now, to do it.
Stay tuned, folks!
David

Hi David
I really enjoyed your display on the 1937 labels. Very interesting to say the least.
Your last sentence asks the question, 'does anyone have any of these on cover'? In my personal collection, no. However, I have done the same with the 1939 Royal Visit labels. There was a special sheet of nine labels and I have been able to obtain six of them on cover and it is a challenge as I am sure their 1937 counterparts are too.
Again, a great display
Cheers

Uh Oh, "I've got a feeling" as The Beatles once sang. Now that I am nearly complete with my USA 20th Century MNH, I have been looking for another venue. I think I may have found it. Be prepared David Giles, KirkS, and others. Lots of questions coming!

That's great, Jack. I love to see an old thread resurrected Unfortunately Giles doesn't post any more, but his work is impeccable and many of us learned from his work. But there are PLENTY of other GEOSIX collectors here, so jump in. KirkS |

Thanks Kirk,
David created something really nice and I'm sorry he's gone. I am happy you made order out of it, though. It helps for a complete newbie like myself. How much of a newbie, you say? Well, what does GEOSIX mean? I told you I have no clue. Maybe the 1840-1970 Gibbons Catalog(ue) will help!
Later, Jack Kelley |

Well, most of the time, you'll see him abbreviated KGVI You're going to love this ... King George VI --> George 6th --> GEOSIX There used to be a good website at http://www.geosix.com but it seems to have disappeared. Kirk |

Regarding the website that was no longer available, GEOSIX.com. I think that was David Studd's website. He used to publish the Crown Agents reports from various Colonies showing the actual production of the King George VI issues. I am not sure what happened to David or why the site is down. Here is another option you might consider - the King George VI Collector's Society site. They publish a newsletter with the latest findings and have a number of reports on how to identify the stamps from the various British Colonies. http://www.kg6.info/ |
