I found a 12 cent blue San Martin stamp from Argentina with this watermark. It doesn't match any of the options for Argentine watermarks so I'm wondering if any of you might recognize it. If it helps the stamp also has an M.H. overprint for the Ministry of Finance.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Joe

This, I think, is SG 457, issued without watermark in July 1918. The note in SG advises that stamps can be found with letters from printings bearing the watermarks of the printer, in this case, "Wheatley Bond A&W Co Hoc Et Ubique".

Thanks GeoffHa! I missed the footnote about the unwatermarked stamps sometimes having papermaker's watermarks. Even if I had seen it, I would not have known the maker's name to line up with the letters on my stamp. Thanks for the insight!

You're welcome. I put most of those issues into the "too hard" heap, given the range of watermarks with minor differences,
