But in any case these appear to be irretrievably damaged, sadly.

These stamps were part of my grandfather's stamp collection. He was posted in Bashra Iraq during the 1920s. Could someone explain the damage to the stamp and how much it will effect the value.
I will try and get a better pic of the stamp.

They have been stained, perhaps by whatever they were next to, rather than by climate. Others may have a view on whether soaking off the gum would leave presentable stamps.

That is interesting. So first hand stamps.I think even though the strip of three has some folds and creases;the stamps individually look nice.

It is a tough stamp to call genuine or a forgery . Because the plate used to do the overprint looks like a sloppy job of setting the letters and suspect the whole sheet has every stamp with a different setting and lettering doesn't line up as the stamp next to it .

The piece needs a valid certificate.

From what was in the article on the settings. The 1 Kran and up
were in a pane of 5 stamps.(correct me if I got it wrong).
Comparing the third stamp in the strip & the SG stamp possible
same setting?
Brocken "U" in Buchire
Downward "h" in British
Identical spacing between the letters U,n,d in Under.
(photos not ideal I agree)

The scarcity of these stamps makes the idea of these stamps being irretrievably damaged laughable, they are just badly stained on the back. The increasing rarity of a stamp makes the poor condition less of an issue. I guess that they were put in someones billfold and then sweat soaked everything and colours ran. if they were used stamps of a still current issue, sure they would get tossed in the trash but these irretrievably damaged. I disagree.
If Indianmom thinks they are garbage then mail them to me and i<ll give you $5 plus shipping.

Pretty sure these stamps were bought by my grandfather but is badly stored. I have alot of stamps from Iraq that are unused. He had a bigger collection but most of them are with my cousins.

Hi:That looks nice.Looks like he liked these stamps. If you could postsome pictures of the Iraq stamps that would be interesting..
The india cover is interesting because of the combination
stamps + the meter markings in red(Bombay GPO) along the top.
