I need help identifying my LHH's, This set contains 18 stamps all 10 lepta orange. I will try to narrowing them down according to the printings from Hellas 2016. I'm new to this so any comments are very welcome:

I have looked at Bigblue http://bigblue1840-1940.blogspot.dk...s-heads.html
and this thread https://goscf.com/t/18134&SearchTerms=hermes unfortunately many of the pictures are now missing.

The Printings from Hellas 2016:
#1. Paris printings
#2. First Athens printings
#3. Consecutive Athens printings
#4. Cleaned plates printings
--- #5. Special printings
--- #6. 1871 - 1872 printings
#7. Mashed paper printings
--- #8. New values Paris printings
#9. Cream paper printings with CN
#10. Cream paper printings without CN

#5, #6 and #8 is out as there are no value 10 lepta in these printings.

Stamps S:

S1

CN
Control number (CN) rules out #10, but not #1 as 10 lepta is the only value of this print with CN.
CN is not 8mm high so out goes 1# anyway
As the CN does not seem to be distinct #2 is out.
Paper
Not Cream so out goes #9 and #10
Meshe hmm not sure could be #7?

S2

Same as S1, mesh more prominent I believe #7 printing.
My guess is Hellas 40 (m40,s40)

S3

CN
Control number (CN) rules out #10, but not #1 as 10 lepta is the only value of this print with CN.
CN is not 8mm high so out goes 1# anyway
CN maybe distinct (more than S1) so #2 cannot be ruled out
Paper
Blueish paper so out goes #2 (white), #4 (white or greenish), #9 (cream) and #10 (cream)
Paper not meshed so out with #7
Down to #3
Color of stamp could be red-orange so my guess is Hellas 18e (M19,S19)

S4

CN
Same as S3
Paper
Though it seems a bit cream it is not as cream as many of the other stamps. Not really white eigther, definately not blueish or greenish. So I would say out with #2 (white), #4 (white or greenish), #9 (cream) and #10 (cream)
I do however think the paper is meshed more than S1 so my guess is #7 My guess is Hellas 40 (m40,s40)
It seem to something wrong with the face double impression?

S5

Same as S4
so guess is #7 Hellas 40 (m40,s40)

S6

CN
Same as S3
Paper
Definately cream so #9 Hellas 50 (m50,s46)

S7

Same as S4 #7 Hellas 40 (m40,s40)

S8 - S11

Same as S6 cream so #9 Hellas 50 (m50,s46)

S12

CN
8mm high so #1 is in play.
Paper
Blueish confirms #1
Cheeklines dotted at then end and all in all very nice print so #1 it is. So Hellas 4 (m4,s7)
The stamp was also discussed in this thread: https://goscf.com/t/53387

S13 to S18

CN
Well the only print of 10L without CN is #10, so only color varies.
My guesses are
S13 Hellas 56b
S14 Hellas 56c
S15 Hellas 56d
S16 Hellas 56d
S17 Hellas 56c
S18 Hellas 56c

Thanks perf12. It is in fact the first Greek stamp I have purchased. I had long wanted to start a collection and found this in a local auction so I thought I would give it a shot and ended up buying it for 37USD.. that was easy I thought... the next ones didn't go quite that easy

I noticed the Louis Basel site was down. Fear not - I found an internet site dedicated to caching / saving material for older websites. You may find pictures that were once missing as well.

Internet Archive "Wayback Machine"

1. Go here:

2. Enter your website

3. Pick a date
