It does pay to check bulk stock!

This faint postmark is the short date line for Darlimurla, Victoria, and is rated RRRR, meaning that only 4-12 examples have been recorded.

Interesting, what is a RRRR rating and what catalogue uses it?

There's one at the State Library, I'm going to read up on it.

The Premier Postal database has it at 4R, so there may be a little discrepancy.

Premier Postal's resources are a godsend for collectors of Australian postmarks:

Indeed,
there were 3 hammers issued, as far as I can tell,
The latest lasted to 1968 that may be the lower scarcity
albeit, Webster Wood was printed 1992

I havn't yet been able to read the catalogue with any confidence,
I need to scrutinise the legends.

The one I've shown is the last issue, with the short date line, and is the scarcest. I haven't got Webster Wood, so I may have to hunt that down

Watson, Webster Wood, possibly the bible of Vic Pmks.
From memory around $80 for the 2 volumes?

I picked mine up for $35 local auction.

Caveat : The 2 volumes only go to the letter "G"
before the study was ended on the passing of one of the colleagues?

For A-G the information is frankly mind boggling in its complexity.

Thanks for that Rod. It must have been Webster that passed, as Watson and Wood are still going strong

That is an absolute bargain.
I would expect to pay $20-$30 post from North America, for those volumes.

I would check that price quoted is correct.

2014
Estimate $120

But the arm will probably mean your parcel gets held up by Aussie customs ...
