Album pages that most never seen . I wanted to leave these stamps on the original pages so that their origin would not be question . These were purchased by me in 1993 from Shreves Stamp Auctions ,they are from Bill Gross fabulous British Colonies Collection . The last 25 years they are in my ever expanding Scott Internationals .

As a fairly advanced WW classical era collector, I have never seen this many New Republic stamps in one place. Bravo! |

redwoodrandy, The slant on the first E of REPUBLIEK is found on the genuine stamp, however I think that it looks a little more pronounced than the image in the link you give. Genuine stamps also have a full-stop after AFRIKA. However I don't know one way or the other about the bevelled lower branch of the second E in REPULIEK.

Clive, the "serif" on the first E of REPUBLIEK is a pretty much cast-iron way of telling forgeries from genuine stamps. Most, but not all, forgeries have the stop missing after AFRIKA, so this isn't definitive in my experience. Another good give-away if you have other genuine stamps for comparison is to look at the overall design. If it's too crisp and neat then it's highly likely to be a forgery. |

Thanks Tim, What outstanding collections both you and floortrader have.
I have always been fascinated by the New Republic stamps. "Transvaal Philately" by Maj. Ian B Mathews has a very interesting chapter on these. He also refers to your "cinderella Boer War stamp", these were issued in two designs in various colours and denominations but otherwise remain a mystery. Clive

Thanks Clivel , thanks to the many who gave positive remarks . I hope to show more of the stuff that I been working .
I just purchased some extra Spanish Civil War Cinderella stuff to add to material I had for years and trying to fiqure out how to lay it out ,once I am happy with a method it should be a neat addition to the chat board .

floortrader and Tim - that's some truly impressive collections. I have never seen anything remotely close before, did not even know about the tete-beche pairs. Thanks for sharing, most inspiring |
