Hello, I purchased this at a flea market from a seller who deals in military items. To me, it appears to be a printing plate, and after some research, I found the image to be a 1939 German Hitler stamp.

Can anybody tell me more about it? Are these rare? Faked? Etc. Any info would be much appreciated

Thanks for any help. I'm happy I found this page after much searching

For the record, obviously I abhor Nazis, but as a collector of curiosities and antique printing items, I had to pick it up

I do not think they 'print' perforations for stamps , but it might have been used for catalog or some other publication.

Ha yes I figured that it wasn't the "original", but don't know what other application if might be. It's defintiely stamp sized :)

oops zoomed in and saw this one has no perforations... getting closer

Also reminded me that I inherited a stamp collection that I've never looked through. I do remember seeing a Hitler stamp in there's and feeling queasy

Correct, it is not what perf12 shows. It looks to me to be for a catalog or magazine. Which era is anyone's guess but it could be relatively recent and not from the 1930s or 1940s. The only way to know is to find the actual catalog/magazine that was made for and date it that way.

I would guess that it is aluminum since the fasteners appear to have been driven directly through.
