Some of the overprints used by the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (officially known as Yugoslavia beginning in 1929) for some of its territories obliterated the original designs. The two Bosnia and Hercegovina stamps (Mi #s 40, 43) shown here, are from the February 6, 1919 set featuring Kaiser Franz Joseph I of Austria. The Cyrillic "Kraljevsto S.H.S." overprint means Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes.  |

On March 7, 2007 Finland issued a souvenir sheet of two 70 c stamps celebrating Mikael Agricola's first book written in the Finnish language. One of the stamps in the sheet, shown here, features some text from Agricola's book. From wikipedia, "Mikael Agricola (1510-1557) was a Finnish Lutheran clergyman who became the de facto founder of literary Finnish and a prominent proponent of the Protestant Reformation in Sweden, including Finland...His first book, "ABC-Kirja", or ABC book, was a primer for reading and a catechism. It was first printed in 1543."  |
