Is there any good publication (on internet or on paper) how to distinguish all the Britannia types, and how to discover the forgeries among them? The Stanley Gibbons obviously has a total listing of the types but they are hard to identify. Rgrds, Mark

In addition to the images shown, you might also look for the various paper and perforation types as well as the watermarks. That can help with the identification as well.

Another rule I have when I sort these issues - if there is a choice between a common variety and an expensive one - it is almost always the common one. That helps when there is a tie.

I realize that this is an older post, I'm looking for the english version of The Serrane Guide. All I can find is a pdf copy of the original french guide.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks Bobby, appreciate it. I down loaded the French version because it was cheaper, free! And with Google Translate I can fumble through enough to decipher the information I need.
