Annam and Tonkin
It is often the case that the overprint was printed on stamps whose surface was covered with gum.
This gum came from the fact that the sheets of stamps, type goddess seated, sent from France to the colonies
being applied one on the other, the gum of the back was deposited on the front of the leaves as a result of the humidity.
If the stamp is soaked in water, the gum goes away and the surcharge with it; in whole or in part.
Make sure before soaking that there is no trace of gum.
