Good Morning, From the scan below, I was hoping I could get help counting and verifying the number of grill points I have. Thanks! High Contrast:

Is the stamp secret? I count 13 x 15 but the picture is very unclear

best is a photo with oblique light.
the front of the stamp would help indeed, seems to be 6c bank note. |

Thanks Petert4522. I thought it might help get focus on the grill rather than the stamp face - also, removing any per-conceived notions.
I'll try another scan... |

I tried up-scaling and cropping so I could upload without being over the limits of size and scale. Here is the latest rev: High Contrast: |

souldjer, most members don't answer to grill questions where the front of the stamp is hidden.

Really tough from pictures, esp on this stamp. Looks like an H grill to me. I can count 13 points easily - both horizontally & vertically - which would eliminate an I grill. But the pictures look very different - are all the pictures the same orientation?
On the first image, there seem to be grill points above & to the right of the 'main' grill impression. Nothing showing on the left. In the later images, there appear to be additional grill points to the left/below the main impression.
Very tough issue with grills. Seems obvious it is a banknote issue. Much easier to do in hand than from pictures, unfortunately... |

Based on the impression I suspect it is a 24 cent, but an F grill?? Need to see the front. |

Sorry yes, the orientation changed on my second scan accidentally - And the scan was so high resolution and slow that I didn't try it again.
I will scan the stamp face, I was just trying to get an honest opinion without it. I am NOT good at counting the grills or measuring... I have little experience or practice. |

So your guess is you found a grill which should be not present on this stamp. which grill do you suppose it to be and what is the stamp?
If it's a 6 cents bank note stamp, then it's a H grill. |

I simply wasn't sure what Grill it was - and I didn't want others to just decide immediately as to what it was. I know we all automatically make these decisions. Sometimes it's better not knowing. Sorry this is so late - here is the stamp face. |

By not giving everyone the most information you can when you ask a question is a sure way to get less people to respond to your posts. Don |

What is the general consensus then, with the face and grill being what it is? |

It is most likely an H grill. H grills have a range of points 11-13 horizontal by 14-16 vertical. With the grills being a bit faint it may be difficult to measure but if you can an H grill is 10x12 mm.

In order to receive the best answer you have to do your bit. That is to provide the most information you can. For guessing games you can start polls here and ask what kind of stamp do I have and give us a multiple choice for answers. |
