I have this envelope with this Post Office Seal. It appears to be Scott # OXA4a. It is the "a" version because it has the "609" instead of the "566" for Postal Regulations. There is no price listed in Scotts catalog so I am thinking I found something really rare. Did I? Does anyone have an idea what it may be worth? Did I just find my Daughter's and son's college fund?
Any help is appreciated.
Thank again,
Robert

I am talking OXA4 and not OX4.

It is listed in Scott just before the one you are showing me.

Thanks,
Robert

Oh. Sorry. I see it. Interesting for sure. I doubt it is worth a fortune but it may have some good value. Very cool!

Hi Robert,

You have identified your dead letter office seal correctly.

As you can see from the values with other dead letter office labels or seals in the Scott catalog, I'm afraid that you haven't found a way to put anyone through college, but you should be able to get somewhere around $50 for your cover, from a postal history dealer that deals in this area.

The dash in Scott doesn't always equate to a huge value. You still have a roughly hundred dollar cover.

Jim

p.s. The value of the cover would be higher if the seal was tied. Since it is not, it is not quite worth as much.
