Complete Set Of US Overrun Countries Full Sheets + Others

Collectibles shows on shopping channels... late night infomercials... the subscription clubs of the 1970s-1990s. Regardless of the venue, the crimes against philately (and other collectibles fields) perpetrated by these shysters should have no statute of limitations.

Whether its stamps, covers, currency, coins, gold-plated stamps, gold- and platinum-plated quarters, first day covers, sports cards, or any other collectible, I believe they have done more damage to the various hobbies than anything else... once people (or their heirs) realize how badly they overpaid, they write off the hobbies entirely as "ripoffs".

That said, overpayment and over-the-top hype aside, the presentation and packaging of these items was frequently quite decent.

Such is the case with this set: "World War II Stamp Sheets" from the "Calhoun's Collectors Society". It looks like it was sold at some point in the 1980s or 1990s; there's no exact date anywhere on the materials.

It contains a full 13-sheet set of Overrun Countries (Scott #909-921) along with sheets of 8 other World War II topic sheets, 21 MNH sheets in total.

The sheets are presented in an oversized binder, with each sheet in a full-sized clear mount (not an insubstantial cost even today). It's actually not a bad presentation.

This collection has a bit of a "musty" smell about it, presumably from long attic/basement storage. I notice that the smell has decreased considerably in the week I've had it, so keeping it out in the open, and airing the individual pages should take care of that in short order.

I did not see the "KORPA" error, nor any of the major Scott-listed color errors, however there are plenty of flyspecking varieties, including a myriad of them on the Belgium sheet I posted in this thread:
