I have been surfing around the net and have noticed a couple articles on stamp club newsletters and one in a newspaper that mention using air freshener to remove the newer self adhesive stamps (Great Britain Machins specifically)

Saint John, New Brunswick Saturday Stamp Column Online:
http://telegraphjournal.canadaeast....ticle/788501

How does this work? Is it dangerous? (flammable?)

Is it icky? Do you wear gloves or a separate air supplied breathing suit?

Also, one column in a newsletter mentioned using talc (baby powder) on the back so the gum becomes non-sticky.

Does this work and if it does then how messy is this stuff?

Will the air freshener get into my plastic pages? Will they stick together?

Will my stamp collection smell like Mountain Springtime or something similar?

This is new to me (I mostly handled older stamps, but I am finding an attraction to the Machins now.) so please excuse my questions if they have already been answered on here (I couldn't find answers).
