StampWorld.com has three listings for this stamp, but I am trying to determine if it is "rose red" or "cinnabar".
Anybody have a good hint?

Cinnebar has more brown in it - I think you have rose-red here

Cinnabar is another name for Mercury Sulphite. I have just googled the word and found a whole slew of pictures of related to cinnabar. I think your colour is more rose red, but most of the pictures would suggest a slight pink element in Cinnabar. I think you need to find the colour swatch used by the describer and look at that. Have fun

Your mistranslating the color ,there is NO Cinnabar color for this stamp . Your taking the word ZINNOBERROT from the ZUMSTEIN Swiss Catalog to Cinnabar . The stamp comes in three shades of red . They are pale rose, light rose and red .

Further to FT's response,
this may assist.

WOW

and Hmmmmm!

Even the wife, who claims she's not color blind, isn't sure which is the best color match!

Remember these article have been through the post, soaked in water, at different temperatures, different scanner, and goodness knows what else.

Best route is to keep your duplicates, you have the shades from FT,
and eventually you'll see, hopefully the shades for yourself.

Colour always is a personal thing, especially with used stamps.
