Was just going through the 2019 Iran section in the Scott catalogue and was surprised at just how much the 1940s-1960s material has gone up since the 2014 catalogue. 20-40% cumulative increases are not uncommon for that material.

The nice thing is that it's all post-counterfeit era, so unlike the early material it's not a minefield.

It's too bad you can't sell any of it on ebay or anywhere else PayPal is accepted.

Sigh.

You can sell Iran on ebay, but you can't sell it overseas. It doesn't make sense, but that's how it is.

It was that way for a while, but I don't think you can sell Iran stamps at all now.

As of last week, the "Stamps > Middle East > Iran" category was removed. There are only a tiny fraction of listings with the word "iran" in them as there were before the category was removed. Some sellers are using things like "iran1" for the country to get around the removal bots.

There are a grand total of 236 listings across the entire stamps category with the word "iran" or "iran1" in them, where there used to be thousands.

It's only a matter of time until ebay tweaks their bots to scour all of the categories for listing removal.

Same thing with Cuba, virtually all listings have disappeared, with the remainder using "4cuba" or "6cuba", etc.

Some sellers use 'Persia' (even for modern stamps)

I don't think Persia works either, but the "Middle Est Collections" is OK ebay police don't care what the pictures show, just the words.

Hi Ken,
Seems to work for seller 'wdwphilatelic' who has a number of modern Iran stamps listed under Persia.

There was a recent Persia/Iran auction in the UK hosted by Cavendish, and quite a few prices went through the roof. Either there's something going on with the market, or these stamps have been undervalued for some time and the market is simply re-adjusting. Needless to say, I didn't get anything I wanted!

When the sanctions were lifted Iranian collectors had the freedom and wherewithal to collect apace. The sanctions are back on. I do not expect the prices to maintain their current levels.

If you're interested in selling, use middle east in the title.
I got most of my Iranian stamps in ebay from "middle east" or "Asia" collection, Cubanian stamps from "Latin America" collection, and North Korea from "Asia".
