About 20 years ago I
inherited a large old album from an uncle. I put it aside and never really looked at it until a few weeks ago when I hauled it out.
I have now spent some very pleasant evenings with the album along with some volumes of the Scott catalog which I borrowed from the library. I doubt there is much of value in the album but the stamps are fascinating and it has triggered an interest in reading up some of the history of the various long forgotten countries represented in the album.
Now close to retirement I have a feeling that stamp collecting is going to hold my interest.
I just need to decided which route to go, all the world seems far too daunting, so I will probably start with specialising in one or two countries, or even a maybe a thematic collection.
This site has given me plenty off food for thought already, but I have many more threads I want to browse.
