Hello, my pictures aren't great, but I have not been able to find any info at all about this Pre-1st Issue Revenue Stamp, other than what is typed on the card. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
what you have is called a Lowenberg Essay. if memory serves me right it is gummed and reverse printed on onion skin and was one of the multitude of ideas for reuse prevention. they are not Scott listed. they are found in several colors. I think there is a listing of these but don't remember where I saw it. if I remember more I will post it later if unless someone else does.
Ahhh, well poop, I really appreciate the information though! I have a ton of stamps to go through, literally thousands, starting in 1851, hundreds of revenue stamps, plates, pairs, I was hoping to start with something huge...haha! Thanks again for the info, I am glad I joined this community, I am sure I will be posting more.
Off the topic but all of the discoloration from what appears to be "scotch" tape is bad for stamps. You would be best served by removing all stamps from these pages and starting over. Good luck.
