From the original listing at the start of this thread, I'm still wondering what he meant by "two reds and a white". He's only selling two stamps.

I think the seller said white because the stamps are not completely red (or red violet as per Scott). Then again, these stamps could be tagged and would therefore call for a higher selling price.

And should I decide to sell stamps on ebay, I'll probably ask fawwakha to write the descriptions of my lots as I think the wording for his listing is very original and spot on. LOL

And in the tradition of the last listings, here's another for your amazement...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Red-Washin...AOSw~fpZjhjq

With this lot you get the original letters 'from man to woman'. Not sure what the 'Have Pie' refers to in the title.

I think I just stumbled onto a great way to entertain myself. Just go the 'Used US' category and select the highest to lowest filter.

The vast majority of the overpriced junk lots seem to fit a pattern; first time new sellers listing Washington/Franklins.
ebay really needs to pull that blurb at the first page of the stamp section.

It is fun reading.

"Have pie."
"Some in ment conditions."
"Stuck on envelopes but do look great."

I'm glad the seller didn't find 1850's stamps on a bunch of old envelopes...from which the stamps could be removed to improve their appearance.

And in the same vein, here's a couple of interesting ones in the Canada section:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/canada-227...AOSwB4NWwLiO

- 'Play' block. No doubt just a typo but unintentionally funny.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Brunsw...AOSwxGRZg1r7

- Seller has 'no explanation' as to how this design wound up on the envelope. I'd bet someone on here will. He wants $25,000 for it and will mail for 71 cents.

I have to admit there are far more wacko lots in the US category than in others. Not sure what that says..

Actually it says "Have ple". It looks like the seller ran out of room and didn't complete the last word. I'm thinking "plenty". Or maybe "Have pleasure reading letters from man to woman!"

Maybe these sellers are what ebay is referring to in their ad in the August 20 issue of Linn's Stamp News. Not sure I'm allowed to scan and post the ad itself, but the copy reads "Complete your stamp collection - Discover rare and genuine stamps from the best sellers'"

I'd bet he meant to say 'have pile'.

I don't want to keep harping on it, but ebay sets this stuff up when they have such a half witted intro clearly written by someone knowing nothing about philately. I'd bet quite a few of these poor folks read that and get the idea that if Lincoln or Franklin is on any old stamp it' worth a fortune.

Anyone know of an effective way to bring this to the attention of the lord and masters there?

Isn't the 'report'function used for reporting issues with listings? This would be to report awful research on the part of their staff who are apparently clueless about what they are running ads for.
