Two Lincoln 4¢ stamps listed as "off paper" even though the coil isn't and the info about the stamp's age is 1841-1850. This is probably why they're so rare as they were issued before Lincoln ever even became president!

Only 200 Bucks.....Plus postage!

The seller has zero feedback, probably their first venture. Maybe they saw this intro to the Stamps section on ebay:

'Some of the most valuable antique stamps are the ones featuring presidents, such as President Lincoln, President Washington, and President Franklin. Civil War-era stamps in general are typically more valuable than newer stamps. '

There is another thread on here about ebay's laughable write up of the stamp section. I cannot blame some poor well meaning person for thinking they might have found something worthwhile.

Yes, and Franklin AND Hamilton are often portrayed as presidents on our currency. This is to be expected as people under about 35 have absolutely NO idea about history, geography, and math. If you haven't seen it in the last 10 years or so, look up Miss Teen South Carolina's answer on YouTube as to why 1/5 of Americans cannot find the United States on a map. It's hilarious.

He kept the 'old stamp book' very original. Including that wonderful old smell I suppose.

Really you couldn't make this stuff up.

According to what I've read on the internet, President Pierce liked to be called by his first name only. Sort of a 'Madonna'-type character, who was years ahead of his time.

Therefore, I consider all of these disparaging remarks about President Franklin Pierce to be very disconcerting.

Surely they cannot be about President Franklin Roosevelt...

Pierce was a full blown alcoholic, you could have called him anything, I guess.
