Yes Perf. That was the question. I could have done a much better job asking it. I am curious if anybody knows some history regarding these creations.

ROGDCAM---A lot of this kind of stuff was stolen printers waste and a home made copper die to impress the inverted head . The only records would be the stamp dealer who marketed it or ran ads selling this example above .

Only a few genuine inverted heads are known to exist.(Matraire engraving of 1863)
Check these links for more info.(in italian); google translate will do
the rest....(double or triple & quadruple impressions of the head are more common).
The printing was of poor quality and done in haste.
