That is the most interesting auction catalog I've ever read -- and so interesting it's almost impossible not to read. Thanks for that link. |

I have been trying to recover from viewing these incredible items for several days. I was hoping someone would open a thread. Yikes! I have never seen anything like this auction! |

Certainly the biggest sale of classic US material since the Ishiakawa sale in 1993. Gross was a new collector at the time of the Ishiakawa sale and bought heavily in the sale. I wonder if a new high-end collector will appear at the Gross sale. |

I just got the printed hardback catalog in the mail yesterday - WOW!!!!! Can't wait to see the single stamps (like the 1 cent Z grill!) in a subsequent Gross sale - probably early next year I guess. Not that I will be bidding on any of them, mind you! |

I've just downloaded the PDF and had a quick look through. It's late Sunday afternoon here and I'm about to unwind for the evening which for me involves no screen time (as a rule).
Congratulations to Siegel, that's not an auction catalogue, that's a stunning work of reference that will be relevant so long as there are collectors of USA stamps.

I was lucky enough to see a lot of these items when they were on display at the postal museum in D.C. Unfortunately unless my powerball numbers hit before the sale most of this material is beyond my financial reach. Siegel really knows how to put an auction catalog together. Stunning material. |

I see nothing special in the catalog, more hum-drum ebay type of material. LOL, just kidding of course. I wish the provenance write ups included a bit more info on the historical prices paid (when known), but what an awesome assembly of very special material. Don |

Think I'll buy the catalog as a piece of reference material for my library. |

My masochistic side says "Read the catalogue. Bring several drool rags.". My optomistic side says "Must increase number of lottery tickets purchased this week.". My practical side says "Observe bank balance. Go to a movie instead. Yes, you can afford popcorn too". |
