Hey Gillies

That dot looks Brown to me when I run it trough one of my software programs and the stamp is grayish..Could be wrong.

Could it have been a splatter of some sort...?

Appears to be just a stain

The stamp is a #38 to my eye.

Renden, It is irregular in shape like cancer. Maybe of the scotch tape variety you see on stamps affixed with it. Might have been a small piece of the old scotch tape stuck, transferred its gum and finally fell off leaving mark?
