New Member With Lots Of Organizing To Do.

Hello all. Just revived my Father's stamp collection of about 400 stamps, after finding it stored away for years. It has some US stamps, and alot of European stamps. Most
are German and Austrian (Osterreich). The oldest stamp I have identified thus far is an Austrian stamp from 1919 with a an overprint reading "Deutchostereich" in black. My research tells me that's when Germany annexed Austria after WW1. There are even 4 WW2 German stamps with Hitler's head on them. 3 are cancelled, but one appears to be new.
I have begun organizing by taking the collection of loose stamps out of 30 year old envelopes and placing them in a nice stamp binder with protective plastic sleeves. Next I would like to index/organize them so I know exactly what I have. Any recommendations on Windows software I could use as a platform for organization?

Welcome. You might look into using Vario pages as an organizational method.

Just a point. Germany, didn't annex Austria after WWI, it was forbidden by the Versailles Treaty (1919) and it had to wait until 1938.
The overprint "Deustchesostereïch" on the Austria-Hungarian empire stamps, just refers to the German speaking areas of the former empre, later to become "proper Austria".

For a small collection you can use something like Excel. There are some inventory programs available.
