The cream of my kiloware being a Gummed lot & a much larger lot of Self adhesive Australia new $1 issues comm's on paper and 3kg 70c on paper comm's only.

It is a 12kg parcel with $168 in mailing stamps on it + $107 in extra cover.Destination Netherlands!

Total cost $4,200.00 to the Netherlands and is due to be delivered today but the tracking ends 22nd Aug before it reaches the plane in Brisbane.

Last time this happened it took me 8 months to reconcile with Auspost for my funds to be recovered by activating extra cover.

Have lodged a complaint on the 27th Aug but today is the 1st official day to lodge a complaint. Am off to campus again today but when I get home 1st thing is to ring Auspost.

Having $168 of very recent mailing stamps on the box and declaration form for $4,200 make these large expensive parcel a huge target sadly.

Here's hoping that all is well and I am over reacting.

Whoa!
Good luck John. That is some story.
Curious..would it not have been more secure using FED EX ?

My 5Kg of stamp mounts from Canada, was in a huge box, with about 8 Souvenir sheets affixed.
I had it written off, but landed on my doorstep after 70 days.

Can you explain the "extra cover" and how the cost is fixed please?

I remain positive with international post, have not lost anything for 10 years.
Only loss was my first ever "swap" to a University in Yugoslavia.

Parcel missed being scanned onto plane at Brisbane to Netherlands.

But from my Auspost call 15 mins ago have been told that Netherlands customs has just recorded the parcel's arrival.

That is 7 days from Brisbane airport to Netherlands customs. Will have to pull a few more grey hairs from my head.

Do not know about FED EX Rod. Extra cover is not insurance so Auspost tells everyone but it covers me for lose of the parcels value. Auspost tries everything in the book to not pay claims that extra cover is all about.

Have already given some info about extra cover. But it is a cost per $100 of mailing items cost/value with a $5,000 limit to be covered. When you go to claim as a seller I have to provide Auspost with all business receipts and transactions concerning the parcels value or they will not proceed with the claim.

They use to have very poor tracking but now they are usually spot on. Something went a miss with this parcel. You would think a $4,000 parcel would get better attention. For the best part of $270 cost for mailing you would think you would get a better service.

Mail can be mind-bogglingly slow at times. Something I ordered once was shown by USPS tracking to have arrived at my local sorting facility, but it still took another week to be delivered to me. I could walk to that sorting facility in an hour!

Customs can take their own sweet time sometimes. A order of Palo pages was very quick from Chicago to Canada - and then sat and aged at Canada customs - before moving quickly from Canada customs to my home. Would have been quicker to drive to Chicago and get it myself :)

erliaz, I have a better one. Someone in California sent me a package two weeks ago. He used USPS tracking, and when I check on the status it says that a tracking number was provided and the estimated arrival was august 20. Well, it is still saying the same thing even though I received the package over a week ago!

I have had problems myself dealing with overseas transactions. Sometimes we have to be patient due to US Customs. Easier said than done

That's happened to me on a number of occasions. Some of the mail carriers here are not very fastidious when it comes to recording delivery, and I've even received registered mail a few times without signing for it and with no delivery shown on the tracker.

Parcel Delivered.

Coarse fees now paid. Huge relief for me!

Because of my age I have to pay as I go.

Younger people do not have to pay until they start paying tax basically.

Just a point of passing interest from my course is Australia, and American even more so, are 2nd world countries compared with the social structure of life lived in Singapore. Makes one think hey.

Real-time tracking has facilitated 'watching the pot boil'. In the past we did not even know if the sender actually had even sent a parcel but now we sit impatiently as soon as the sender enters the tracking info.

Having a delivery time frame from Auspost causes some buyer to seller discomfort. Delivery time frames are not only an ebay mailing add on anymore.

The parcel got 4 scans in the Netherlands!

Don. I was not being impatient. When I did not receive the letter on the by ebay indicated time I checked. As a matte o fact, I checked just a minute ago and it still has not left the California post office yet! But I received it long time ago!
