Soviet Postal Stationery

Been interested in mint stamps for a long time, The World Postal Stationery joined my postal obsessions during the last years.

So, I'd like to start here a discussion as well as presentation of the huge field of the Soviet postal stationery.

Along with the enormous propaganda purpose, their envelopes and postal cards cover every theme that exists on this planet.
Furthermore, as if it is the only country that has produced stamped picture postcards.

Anyway, let's start with this postal card issued in 1976, celebrating 200 Years of the famous Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.

I think, every soviet postal card has an unique Indicium.

The Summer Olympic Games Moscow'80 gave occasion for massive stationery production in the period 1977-80.

Here is a postal card, part of a set with the mascot Misha who presents what can be seen in Moscow. The topic of this particular card is the Architecture.

The word "Avia" in the upper part means Air Mail.

Indicium Title: Means of postal transport.



Indicium responds to Definitive stamp of 1982 Michel #5238, Yvert #4965.
It has been stamped on Soviet envelopes in the period 1983-90 in variety of colors mostly in cyan-blue or red.

Just a side note, the Soviets are not the only country that has picture postal cards. You can find them from Germany, Switzerland, most of the Nordic countries, Canada, U.S., Australia and many other countries.

Okay, I've just never came across some others.

Here's a 1991 postal card commemorating the 1000th anniversary of The Book of Lamentations by Grigor Narekatsi (Gregory of Narek), Armenian monk, poet, philosopher, theologian, composer, and saint.

Hope this isn't too off-topic, but I have had this for many years. Don't know what it's for, and I've struggled to translate it. I think the very first words, top left, mean something like "collect stamps", so I assume it's printed to encourage young collectors.

Anyone know anything more?

The title in the upper left is a call:

The slogan in the image is:

On the right side:

And there is a list of shop addresses.

I think when one buy stamps they put them in this cover. It is probably of the 60's or something near.
