Fixing Mounts In My Mystic American Heirloom Hingeless Album...

Album experts,

I'm got volume I of the mystic American heirloom hingeless albums. How would you address the following situations?...

1. The mount is missing from the space for a stamp (Washington bicentennial)

2. The mount is there, but upside down so stamp is inserted in the bottom

3. The mount is there, but the back is separating from the album page

Should I reach out to mystic or can I handle this myself with some help from you all?

Many, oerhaps most, hingeless albums will have the odd mount fault. Personally, I wouldn't dream of going back to Lighthouse etc - it's more trouble than it's worth. Just replace the problem mounts yourself.

In the case of 1, could you not just affix a standard clear mount?

In the case of 2, I would see whether you can cut the mount away cleanly with a scalpel or similar, then affix your own mount in place.

In the case of 3, try and get a bit of adhesive behind it?

I would contact Mystic and ask for a replacement page if you cannot remove it cleanly.

Or they will supply the needed mounts. I'm sure Mystic will be responsive.

Slightly off topic but... I bought part one of their hingeless album and wound up selling it on ebay and then special ordering pages with no mounts so I cold affix decent ones.

I don't know what mounts they use on these but they just seemed flimsy. Over half of them in my album stuck out from the page when the stamp was inserted. I used Davo self adhesive ones instead and they look great and there is no problem with their appearance.

Here was my solution. I called Mystics customer support line and gave them the page numbers with the faulty or missing mounts and they will be sending me replacements next week. I was not expecting that easy of a fix. Great customer service by Mystic.
