I've really been having fun with RNs. Wonderful aesthetics and imagery can be gotten without breaking the bank.

Silly me - I was expecting pictures of Registered Nurses!
Beautiful examples, but please let us know what RN stands for,

Peter

My bad. RN is the Scott catalogue prefix for revenue stamped paper.

It's called a "facsimile". It's not a revenue imprint, but rather an imprint made to look like a revenue imprint, used after the tax was abolished.

These are great! You have officially inspired me to dig out my small accumulation and to seriously consider adding to it. Here are images of the only ones I had previously scanned for one reason or another. (Two of them are a little larger than check-size.)

Those are outstanding, Revenuecollector! I'm a big fan of banknote engraved checks, so to me the checks themselves are as nice as the RNs.

Forgive me, if in incorrect thread, ignorant of US Revenues.
Would this be a RN? as you call it?
If not, what?

Rod222 Yes, that is also an RN from the Spanish-American War era. The earlier postings are from the Civil War tax era; for revenue stamped paper, this period begins in June, 1865 and concludes in June, 1883. Except for the facsimile which is from the period following the end of June, 1883.
