With October coming up in a week, I was doing a little research to see some of the historical events that may have occurred in that month. While doing so I stumbled on an interesting event. Apparently on October 20, 1818, the United States and Britain agreed to set the US-Canada border at the 49th parallel. Since this October would mark the 200th anniversary, I was thinking it might be within the realm of possibility for there to be a US-Canada joint issue to mark the occasion. I know it's pretty late in the year for new stamps to be announced, but I believe the History of Hockey stamps were pretty late in the game last year. Anyone have any insider information or guesses? It would be a pretty neat topic to miss out on if you ask me...
Peter, yes I believe USPS requires something like 3 or 5 years before to consider the topic, but I more meant does anyone think there'll be a surprise issue from them coming up for the event? As in someone already suggested the topic 3-5 years ago and it was approved but we just don't know it yet.
