Hi

I am thinking of subscribing to the digital edition which is still about $40 Canadian.

Can any people that subscribe to it on paper or digital give me their honest opinion of the magazine.

Does any one know if SG will send a sample of a digital copy?

I have a hunch this may not be in the right forum. If not, could one of the mods move it for me.

Thanks and my apologies if it is in the wrong forum.

It's a quality mag. I've only ever seen the print version, but it's good for keeping up with news and new issues, particularly GB. The articles are usually interesting and well illustrated - if I had a complaint, I wish they were longer in most cases.

If you ask them, they might well give you a free back-issue. If not, is there an option on buying just one issue, to get a feel for it?

I have sent an email to SG to see if they would send a digital back issue and awaiting their reply.

SG did email me a previous issue from this year.

Once I go through it, I will figure out what I want to do.

$40 a year is a pretty decent price -- if you like it. I wish the print editions of various stamp magazines were more affordable. I prefer actual paper for my reading, but some cost a great deal that way. I've dropped a few because I couldn't justify the cost.

What they ought to do is make a limited view of each issue available for free to entice people to subscribe -- perhaps one entire article plus the intro to others plus the ads and lots of pretty pictures. That's the way you entice people to subscribe.

Dutchman1948, I have been a subscriber to GSM for many years (50 years next year!). I have just migrated to digital only mainly so that I may keep the PDFs and access and search them whenever and wherever I am. I have limited storage space at home and the prospect of keeping all those many thousands of (paper) pages is impracticable. Nothing will beat paper copies, though!

If you do subscribe to the digital edition, you will also have access to all issues published since January 2010, so it's a good buy even if you only try it for a year, as you'll have access to around 120 copies for your $40, or 33 cents an issue. GLENN

I had a look at this at it sounds like a great deal. According to what I read, it's only the last 12 months' issues: https://www.stanleygibbons.com/gibb...-ol-12m.html

Ringo, I see what you mean. All I can say is that I am a digital subscriber only and, as today's partial screenshot shows,

I can freely access all issues back to 2010. I searched for June 2010 and the results enable me to download a PDF or view online.....

Check with Gibbons if this is a deal-breaker for anyone before purchasing. GLENN
