Great Britain Scott 54 (Sg 117), Inverted Watermark

Scott is absolutely worthless on this question, but Stanley Gibbons does not mention an inverted watermark. Is it common? There is a note in SG that the 4d stamps of this issue appeared generally with watermark inverted. This is the Spray of Roses watermark.

A horribly damaged stamp, but one that will remain in my collection until another inverted watermark comes along. Thanks for any help in confirming the orientation of the watermark.

Very interesting! There's no mention of inverted watermarks in SG either.

In my 2018 Part One, this is SG 117WI, catalogued £180.

Thanks for the information. Obviously not worth anything close to that amount, but I now have confirmation.

I clearly need to get a more up-to-date SG GB and Commonwealth catalogue...!
