The previous thread raised a question in my mind. As I recall, watermarks seemed to be relegated to the 1905-1920 period. Except, of course, for the 832b Woodrow Wilson error. Does anyone know what the last watermarked U.S. stamp might be? Other than 832b? Just curious.

Most US postage stamps issued after 1917 do not have watermarks. Watermarks were last used in 1938. The first issues to have watermarks were issued in 1895.

Watermarks were not officially used on postage after 461. And if you are referring to the $1 Prexy, in the first place that was an error, and in the second it was issued in 1951.

The series may have first been issued in 1938, but the USIR error came out in 1951.
