I have a copy of 158 with a SON Montreal CDS. Interestingly, it is cancelled in the PM of 31 Jul 1929. The Scott listed date of issue is 1 Aug 1929. Is this unusual? Thanks!

No, quite common in fact. The stamps were shipped out in advance of the issue date and some P.O's sold them a day or two ahead of schedule. Another common issue was that someone forgot to advance the dater so a stamp sold and used on Aug 1 was canceled with the previous days date.

Also the "Map Stamp" was to be used around Dec.25, but correct me if I am wrong some/the earliest came out with a Dec.7 date.

Some of those early dated Map stamps sell for high price, especially if you have the cover. I don't know prices on the Bluenose but since it is a popular stamp, I'd imagine it selling for a bit more with the early postmark.

I'm not familiar with the $1 Blue Nose stamp. Could you post a picture of it?

In the first post the stamp is referred to as 158. This would be the 50c Bluenose from the Scroll Issue, King George V era.

Jimjung, yes and Glen asked to see the $1.00 stamp and Don showed him one. Funny! And I could not help but comment jokingly, about King George V blue nose. All in good fun.
