New issue (Oct 11th) sparkling holidays souvenir sheet of one according to Linn's Oct 8, 2018 page 8 had a print quantity for THIS sheet of 100 million. 1 billion for the overall sparkling holidays including the booklet pane. At that rate the souvenir sheet should be quite common in the aftermarket. On the other hand the postal bulletin has the print quantity at only 1 million sheets. If that is the correct amount and at a cost of only 50 cents they should sell out fast. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I would be more inclined to believe the Postal Bulletin (primary information resource) than Linn's (secondary information resource)

USPS says that my 150 copies of the s/s that I ordered will be in my mail box tomorrow. The stamp will be taken out of the s/s to use on ordinary letters.

i agree that the correct print quantity is most likely the postal bulletin. since it is so inexpensive I expect many to buy in quantity and this may be a sellout soon.

A Good Source for Collector is the Postmaster in Oneco CT 06373.
He Has the Souv. Sheets for sale, ( USPS # 566304 ) but he asks you limit your orders From Him to 3. ( If you want more, USPS.COM S/H $1.25+ )
No Plastic, No Internet. Mail in your order with Check-M/O, when the check clears, he Mails your stamps to you. ( Priority )
Orders/Inquiries: POSTMASTER 1104 Plainfield Pike ONECO CT 06373-9998. NO S/H Fee. He will include a postage-paid envelope for your next order. He has a Free Mailing List if you'd like somewhat-regular info mailings. He Does Not Sell Your Info.
On Request, He WILL sell you a Plate-Block, or a Coil-Plate Number strip. ( From Coils of 3K/10K, not 100. )

I've been dealing with this office for YEARS. A great place for collectors who want the New Stuff.

regards

Is there a way or trick to separate the entire souvenir sheet from its backing in one piece, die cut stamp included, so that the whole thing can then be applied to an envelope?

place a post-it-note on the front of the SS covering the stamp. carefully peel of the backing and it may stay in one piece. Letter in Linn's this or last week about just this question.

stampCat7, hey that worked nicely! I used two post-its so their sticky portion was covering all corners of the die cut. Thanks for passing along that trick.

Perf10 - glad it worked. How many souvenir sheets do you plan to use? I keep expecting to see this sheet sell out. The whole printing run of the SS probably cost more than the $500,000 a sellout would raise.

Coca Cola might have chipped in some $ for that souvenir sheet. I'll post only a couple. I am concerned the USPS will not see the stamp within the sheet and will not make delivery.

well I am pretty sure they will make it with no problems. If a cover comes back you will have a nice collectable cover that might even get published.

I've learned these souvenir sheets are so smooth the spray-on cancels don't stick except for a little in the tagged area. Elsewhere the ink beads and wipes off onto other pieces of mail.
