Northwinds.

May I have a close up of your TENINDEWA Western Australia, Please ?

This is a new discovery, EKU Earliest Known Use.
We have it as the first cancelling hammer was used 17th December 1912

I would like to offer the image to our Western Australian Philatelic Society for comment and or confirmation.

TENINDEWA
The railway from Geraldton and Mullewa was constructed in 1894 and passed through the area. By 1908 a station was opened in the location of the town and had the name 55 mile siding. Later in 1908 the name of the station was changed to the Aboriginal name of a nearby gully, Kockatea.

Tenindewa contained the last manual telephone exchange in Western Australia; it was closed on 13 April 1985.

Hello Rod, thanks for your response and info!
Nice to hear that the Tenindewa is an EKU. :)

Northwinds, Thank you.

I am not getting ahead of myself, Philately constantly serves up red faces.
But I'll submit the scan to the society for comment.
I'll post back the results, (don't hold your breath)

The BEVERLEY stamp, I always check.... halfpenny Green, exists with a "Thin fraction at right" = $10,000
My eyes were playing tricks, your half on the right looked a tad thin, but with your new scan I think not.
The rarity is ACSC 63(5)m Single Wmk (type 2) Perf 14 comb.

Thanks again.

Northwinds,
Your stamp scans (individual stamps) are not up to a standard for "flyspecking" if, in the future you get a scanner, and can offer crisp clear images 600dpi, happy to flyspeck your 3d Kangaroo and Map.

Your Postmarks
PINJARRA
TENINDEWA
BEVERLEY
PEMBERTON

Are all Western Australian, I am familiar with all the towns but Tenindewa,
albeit reasonably close.

Your NEWCASTLE NSW, is a machine roller cancel, not a handstamp.

Cheers

Northwinds,
response so far.

Rodney,

It is certainly earlier than the earliest date recorded in PMI but I am not sure whether anything else has been found since PMI was published that has pushed that date back. I am referring them across to Brian Pope (editor of PMI) to check with WA Study Group members as to whether it is a new discovery. Nice item whichever way you look at it.

Thanks Rod for keeping me up to date!
I will provide a better scan of the Kangaroo stamp and if you want of the other 2 stamps I provided single pictures of.

Peter,
you can certainly try, with the Kangaroo and Map, see how you go, it has to be very clear for flyspecking.

You can also try with the BEVELEY postmark stamp.
