Rogdcam,

For reports to be useful to anyone from ebay, you MUST provide context, not just a link. The person posting here from ebay may have administrative authority but may not have philatelic knowledge.

To provide context, the stamp in question is NOT the 1898 issue, but rather the modern reissue of the stamp worth no more than face value (if that) as a used stamp. The key giveaway is that it is bicolor, whereas the originally released stamps were single color.

Additionally, as we don't know whether this person will be reading here regularly, but has provided an email address, presumably issues posted here should also be emailed to this individual.

If we want to help this person truly provide change on ebay, we need to be informative in our reporting and also limit ourselves to blatant listing violations or not-as-stated items that can be determined by a non-expert.

Ray Charles could see that it is not 292. Why is it that everytime a bad listing is identified the workload falls upon the reporter. Same old argument but if ebay wants to actually have better, cleaner stamp listings and build trust they need to step up. They receive revenue for providing their platform. It gets old writing up the why's and why nots only to receive deafening silence in response. Truth is that reviewing and identifying spurious items on ebay is a full time job and then some. I do not know why I even care anymore. I guess it still irritates me that collectors are exposed to such bunk. The argument will now return to buyer education being the problem and viola, ebay is off the hook again. My opinion only. I have zero skin in the game since I neither buy nor sell on ebay.

Rev - Not sure what your problem is. Have some respect. I did not call you anything. I do not need you calling me obstinate and obtuse. Tone it down my friend. Really.

Really? Because I just took a long hard look at it and had no clue it's not a 292. So am I stupid or just blind?

The ebay listing and a 292 for comparison.

The fact that it's dated 1998 in the margin might be a clue.

The fact is that someone on this forum went through great lengths to ensure an ebay rep would look at this thread and take interest. Use this resource with great respect and we may find a helping hand that reaches out. Posting stupid or rather unproductive random listings means nothing. Steve may be in charge of the stamp section and many more. Make your requests count with substance and earn his respect, and just maybe, we get some reprieve from Cartel and other major fraudsters to start.

...I would like to step in as the category manager for Stamps on ebay...

Steve,

Here you go - an action item for you:

"og_stamps" has lot 253939337538, which was previously "numis_phil*" lot 263903580833, which was previously listed at least two times. Look at lots 263659121064 ("xfstamps" which was an album page of stamps) and lot 263813221491 ("og_stamps" which was the block of 4 removed from the album page and offered on its own).

He is still selling on ebay.

Shame it wasn't an actual auction so your security folks could place a bid to see which shill account bids you up.

It does not appear that Steve is visiting this forum often, so chances are good he will not see anything that folks post. He mentioned that we should use his email address ( shalupka@ebay.com )to report any issues.
