I just received a couple of emails from a Megan Stucko with the following in the body of the email:
"I am currently reviewing our members list on HipStamp (formerly bidStart), and I noticed that you haven't made any purchases with us in a while. With that in mind, I wanted to check if you were currently interested in any stamps priced $500 and above?
The reason that I ask, is since you have purchased a large amount of stamps with us in the past, I can offer you an additional incentive this week. Specifically, if you provide me with the listing(s) that you are interested in (or just the Catalog Numbers), I will then work on your behalf to negotiate with the Seller, and determine their lowest price. I can then offer you an additional 10% off that price; and for any stamps $2,500 and above, I can offer you up to an additional 15% off.
Please feel free to respond by email, or by giving me a call on my direct number, at 919-375-8697 to discuss your current collecting needs further."
The thing is - I don't recall purchasing any stamps from bidStart or HipStamp or am not inclined for the time being to do so. Would anyone know whether this is a legitimate email?

Yes, Don - I saw that thread. However, even though I get occasional emails from HipStamp (since they obviously have my email address) that look OK - just not interested at this time in looking into them - this longer email just looked a little weird. The email address looked like it was coming from this individual, but it was followed by "via mailer2.zohocrm.com". Also the area code for the phone number didn't seem to match the only other area code that I've seen for HipStamp, although I admit I'm not sure where they are located. |

919 area code is Raleigh, NC where HipStamp is HQ'ed. I've sent a message to Megan, who was at the SESCAL show last weekend, asking her to read this thread. Steve Taylor

Hi everyone! Thanks Steve for pointing me to this forum.
Yes, I can promise this is a legitimate offer from HipStamp. We're offering such a significant promotion amount because we want to make sure we're hitting our October sales goal. If you'd prefer to be excluded from any future offers, just respond to the email to let us know. |

Thanks for the post. I would normal automatically "trash" that type e-mail thinking it was a phishing e-mail.

I rec'd same e-mail from Megan. The wording was just a little confusing. I had bought several stamps from dealers that listed items on their own websites and bidStart as well, but doing the transaction on bidStart obviously placed me on their mailing list. |
