A while back I was fortunate enough to buy a box with penny red stamps. The SG 43 1864 issue with letters on all 4 corners. it was very cheap and there were 1875 stamps.

I finished most of the work on these stamps and also tried to make an alfabet sheet. A to L Horizontally an A to T vertically.

That would take 240 letter combinations. I did not think I would get there

And I didn't. final result: 239 out of 240.

Still I am very happy with this result.

Pictures of row A to R with 1 gap.

The missing stamp is the one with the letters H - J. (Hawaii - Joplin)

I build up the `sheet` by using the letter combination at the bottom of the stamp.

Sounds fun! Are you willing to part with the remaining stamps? I wonder how complete of a second set of 240 you have with the remainder?

I did not search combinations from a particular plate number. just letter combinations.

A search for all the combinations from a particular plate, would be a lot more difficult.

You would have to go through a lot of stamps. Not forgetting the problem of heavy cancels that cover the plate number or the sometimes very poor print which makes identifying plate numbers impossible.

Tip: I did find out that if you look at them sideways and at a slight angle, you sometimes are able to read the plate number which at first you could not read..
