Hello
So, I have this Canada 6 stamp.
Perforation 10 - does that make this stamp special and rare? Every similar stamp I have seen for sale was Perforation 12...

The perf 10 is number 459, quite common, but many paper fluorescent and gum varieties exist. The common ones were printed in 10's of millions so not worth much. I recall buying 10,000 of them for 5$.

They are resting in a plastic bag until I find time to UV them, separate perf, and identify the various varieries...somewhat a project for long winter days coming-up

Gosh Gilles - it's only 10,000 stamps! Not much more than a weekend needed I should think.

Robert - I did about 10,000 calla lilies one winter. Had to get new eyeballs afterwards.

Anglophile, I've had a look at what the Stanley Gibbons catalogue says on the varieties of this 6c orange:

Perf 10:

Sg 601 (Oct 1968) - no phosphor or fluorescent paper - catalogue value of 10p used.
Sg 601p (Nov 1968) - two phosphor bands - catalogue value of 85p used.

Perf 12.5x12

Sg 606 (Mar 1969) - no phosphor or fluorescent paper - catalogue value of 10p used.
Sg 606p (Mar 1969) - two phosphor bands - catalogue value of £1.25 used.

The 6c orange doesn't actually exist in perf 12 according to Gibbons, only P10 or P12.5x12

So all in all not very valuable but hey stamp collecting is all about the interest in these subtle varieties!
