I realize everyone can set whatever price they want for a lot, but I do have to wonder why someone would go to the trouble to scan and list stamps that have virtually no hope of ever selling.

Here is a set of commemorative stamps from South Africa with a catalog value of $72 (according to the seller) with an opening bid of $1,450?

Am I wrong to wonder what the outcome will be for this set?

Perhaps the seller omitted the decimal point. The ebay listing form is not seller friendly.

1500 ZAR (South Africa Rand) is about $100 US but I'm just speculating why price is so high. I see seller is listed as in California.

Perhaps contact the seller if you're interested. Could be an honest mistake.

I'll bet he was trying to ask 20% or $14.50.

The seller just relisted it for $14.50. It must have been a mistake.
